16 February
15th Asian Sailing Championship
From 16 to 25 February, Langkawi Island will welcome participants from all over the region to the 15th Asian Sailing Championship which will be held at the island’s National Sailing Centre. Come and witness history in the making in this international race which is hosted by the Asian Sailing Federation and the Malaysia Yachting Association as well as the Malaysian Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Langkawi Squid Challenge 2012
The Langkawi Squid Challenge this year will be held on 17 February which will see the best fishermen pitting against one another to produce the best squid catcher around. Come and enjoy a time out at the waters of Langkawi and witness how squid catchers ply their trade against one another.

Le Tour de Langkawi 2012
One of the biggest international event in the world cycling sport, the Le Tour de Langkawi 2012 brings the best cyclists from all over the world to compete in this annual event. This year would be the 17th edition and will be themed ‘Ready for the World’ where they will be cycling throughout the island and across other regions against each other.

Langkawi International Fishing Tournament 2012
The 2012 Langkawi International Fishing Tournament is set to take place on 13 April where it would be held on the waters off the western regions of Langkawi Island. This will be an overnight fishing competition where the best would go against each other for the best fisherman titles in their respectively categories.

Langkawi Geopark Carnival
The Langkawi Geopark Carnival is set to be an explosive affair where the widely popular Dataran Lang will be lighted up with lots of games, activities and programmes for everyone in the family. Bring your friends and family to the carnival and enjoy the best of Langkawi and its rich culture.

Handicraft and Heritage Week
A week which will let you enjoy and appreciate the rich culture and tradition of Langkawi Island, the Handicraft and Heritage Week kicks off on 2 June. It is where you will learn about the traditions and culture of the island and buy some souvenirs too. The event is held at the Langkawi Craft Complex.

Art Festival @ Langkawi 2012
The Art Festival at Langkawi 2012 is set to run from 2 June this year. This is where you can immerse in the rich artistic culture of the people here with exhibitions, events and other related programmes for art lovers, visitors and just about anyone who likes art and crafts of Malaysia.

Mu’adzam Shah Golf Cup Golf Tournament
The Mu’adzam Shah Golf Cup Golf Tournament is one of the most anticipated gofl tournament here in Langkawi Island. It will be patronized by the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah ibni Sultan Badlishah who is also the current Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and will be participated by various heads of government departments and agencies.

The Fire Fighting Competition in Langkawi is one of the most exciting and widely anticipated events here. This is a one-of-its-kind event where you can understand the efforts of fire fighters and watch them outwit each other in all types of fire-fighting contests and matches. Come 14 July, Langkawi Island will be holding the Rambutan Trail 2012. This is the season when the rambutan fruit can be found at almost every corner and it has everything to do with this local hairy fruit. Kedah International Red Tee Golf Invitation 2012
The Kedah International Red Tee Golf Invitation 2012 will take place on 1 October and is set to be held on the cooling and pristine Gunung Raya Golf and Country Club. This will be a prestigious golfing tournament with the Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Haminah binti Hamidun will be the patron.

Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2012
From the 17 to 22 October, the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2012 will be held. This event is catered for everyone from beginners to the expert mountain bikers. Come and be part of the event which will see hundreds of mountain bikers raving through the rough terrains around the island.

World Cup Asia 2012
For all you paint ball lovers, the first ever indoor international paintball tournament will be held in Langkawi on 8 November. This will be held at the state-of-the-art and modern complex which is equipped with world class facilities with teams coming in from more than 50 countries to win the title of World Paintball Champions.

Langkawi Life – One Earth Music Festival
The Langkawi Life – One Earth Music Festival is scheduled for 9 November and it is meant to unite the people with music and to promote green environment touristm among the visitors here. Get ready to enjoy world class and local jazz acts during the event while immersing with the community in the beautiful surroundings.

Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta
The Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta will be held from 16 to 24 November. This annual event is organized and managed by the Royal Selangor Yacht Club where teams will start in Port Klang towards Penang before going through the finish line in the waters off the coast of Langkawi Island.

Langkawi Nature Festival 2012
The Langkawi Nature Festival 2012 is set to promote nature, wildlife, the efforts of conservation and to expose visitors to them. This festival is set to establish Langkawi as a major destination for nature tourism and most importantly for bird watching. The Malaysian Promotion Craft 2012 will be held at the Langkawi Craft Complex in which you will be able to see for yourself all the different and diverse type of Malaysian handicrafts and such. This will be exhibited and promoted by Malaysia’s own entrepreneurs where there will be retail space to show their items for sale.

Langkawi International Junior Tennis Championships 2012
Come 10 December, Langkawi Island will play host to the 15th edition of the Langkawi International Junior Tennis Championships. The event has grown in popularity since it started then and has become a major event for the junior tennis players. The event will take place at the Langkawi Geopark on the lawn tennis courts there.
