Al-Hana Mosque

The Al-Hana Mosque in Langkawi island is believed to be the most popular mosque in the island because it is the largest. The structure is nicely designed with peach and gold and is located beside the Lagenda Langkawi Dalam Taman along the Persiaran Putra road. The golden dome on the top of the building provides a picturesque view of the Islamic faith where it is located amidst the tall and monumental trees growing out of the park nearby.

Al-Hana Mosque is situated in Kuah town and it is also within close proximity of most of the main places here that include Kompleks Jeti Pelancongan and Dataran Lang as well as the nearby shopping centres. The architecture of the mosque is derived from Moorish design and was built in 1959. On Fridays especially you will be able to see the Muslim men thronging the mosque to fulfill their Friday prayers. However, devotees are also seen at the mosque during prayer times every day.

Islamic motifs from Uzbekistan has been incorporated into the design and architecture of the mosque while inside the building one would surely be impressed with the sculptures and carvings of the Qurans on the walls and around. If you are visiting the mosque there are some strict conditions that you must adhere to and this include dressings for both men and women while making noise or being obnoxious are totally not allowed. It is easily locatable as the majestic building is beside the Kuah Tourism Information Office in Lencongan Putra 2. The mosque is open throughout the day but as mentioned, you need to be well mannered and well dressed before entering the mosque.
